There are no first day of school blues in this house, and I don't really care if that makes me a 'bad' parent -- it makes me a sane one in this house. Monday can't come soon enough
- I can turn my music up and the only complaining is from my howling cats
- No more waking up to the sounds of gunfire and the grisly sounds of death at 6am
- No more requests for Daddy to 'put on his 'puter so I can play the tank game' at 6am (noticing a theme here?)
- Yes, I'm one of those bad parents that lets her child play wargames and takes them to adult action flicks.
- The glorious sound of silence. Pop/rap/rock music is for cleaning, silence (something as you can see from the above has been lacking lately) is for writing. Well, that's not quite true, I do have instrumental relaxation/meditation/inspiration music going on in the background.
- It's much easier to diet when you don't have the temptation of going halvsies with the kiddo whenever he's feeling peckish.
- Less mess
- Well, that's the theory anyway -- I don't aim to be messy, I just frickin hate housecleaning!
- Get to have Friday Morning Coffee again with my girlfriends. It goes on hiatus over summer as it's a tad difficult to have coffee and gossip when you have to corral ten kids.
- Running errands, while still a chore, will not be quite so tedious. No more 'I'm waiting in the car' 'no you're not, its 101degrees out and you're 7, if a policeman comes by he'll arrest Mummy for being bad' arguments
- See above but insert Gym and home. Though I've been just giving in on this one and saying to hell with it ... might a good reason why the pounds have crept on and my favourite capris are too damn tight.
- I will miss the conversations like todays 'How about we get Miss Jenna to cut you're hair after she does Mummy's?' 'Did she cut Daddy's hair?' 'No, why do you ask that?' 'Cause if she was the one that gave Daddy his bald spot I don't want her cutting my hair!' I swear, that is word for word, cross my heart, a true conversation ... for the sake of FB's embarrassment I won't go into the old persons and baldspots comments after that :)
- No door to door school bus this year. Crap, that means I have to start using the car lane ... I need Wi-Fi! *sob*

That is a great bald spot story, kids are so funny! Enjoy your "free time!" I have to go back to school next week too...*sniffle*
Oh boy, Anne, just wait until they're grown and out of the house! Then it's party time ALL the time! Woo-hoo! LOL
Great TT!
This week I've posted 13 mini excerpts from my books. :-)
Yay for you! I know lots of other mommy friends who are doing the happy-dance over this joyous (for mommies) occasion!!!
Enjoy & happy Thursday!
Hooray for you!! I loved it when my kids went back to school and, incidentally, so did they. This year they are both off to college and in the dorms - double hooray!!
Don't worry about number four. I saw some pretty adult movies when I was a kid. I turned out just fine.
Yes, you can see why kids might be afraid of the famous "bald spot" do.
My mom always COUNTED THE DAYS till we had to go back to school.
No bad parent at all! I can understand where it's coming from. ;-)
My TT is about BED.
Yesterday was my first lovely day of peace and quiet! Hang in there--back to school is just around the corner!
My girls don't go back to school for another three weeks. Though I work and my husband stays home, so he'll be the one to enjoy the silence. :)
I'm soooo with you on this one. My kiddo's don't start until September 10, so I have nearly another month. Usually its the day after Labor day, but new roof's on the middle schools have delayed opening by one week. Wonder if us parents have some sort of recourse against the contractor for running behind?
Not a bad parent. In some ways, I'm sad but I'm looking forward to getting my writing time back. Nothing spoils an intense scene like "She hit me!" "Well she hit me first."

What a wonderful list.
My kids have already started back. They started August 9th!
Happy TT!
It's the most wonderful time of the year. I can't wait for my son to go back on Tuesday, and totally agree with you. I'm taking my house back next week. :D
Happy TT!
I'm with you, Anne. School around here is something to get excited about. It's 180 days of adventures and friends and all sorts of great stuff. Home is just... a bad second place after that.
I have another week yet, but man, am I drooling at the thought of it!
School could be great till you read my post, sorry :-(
LOL...thats some funny stuff right there...especially the haircut:) Happy TT.
Ahh! I'm so glad I'm not the only one! I kinda feel guilty for my glee, then the glee kicks my ass and the guilt just disappears ROFL!
Great list. Your kids sound like fun!
I cannot wait for school to start. Not until sept 4th here.
Great list...I know the feeling, and I'm glad mine are grown up and out! :-) Come on over and join my Elvis contest! Happy TT!
Great list. I'm so waiting for school to start, and I don't even have kids (I get to deal with everybody else's- sigh). Happy TT.
Daisy is just too funny. we're going thru the "oh crap, we forgot to wake him up for school" syndrome and rushing around like maniacs to get him out the door on time.
How exciting....! Mine are only in preschool, and we don't start until the last week of Aug.
I miss the coffee shop gabs with the girls all summer as well.
I love the bald spot story! How funny!
Happy Belated TT :)
I'm so with you on #6!! I've never been to McDonald's so much as I've been this summer. And though I order the salad, my little guy can never seem to get through all those fries by himself...
btw - thanks for helping with cat names. You mentioned Earl Grey, but because it's a girl, we're going with Lady Grey - but based on your suggestion!!
