13 Ways in which I procrastinate

SO, I said in the post below I'm supposed to be pulling out all the stops and getting PV2 written ... heres my word count from yesterday -- 0. Yup a big fat Zero.

  1. Thought about redoing my toenails -- for some reason the pinky purple I chose last week just isn't cutting it for me ... maybe I'll go light, shiny pink ... gold might be better, it's summer after all
  2. Kiddo wants a ham sandwich so a ham sandwich he shall have!
  3. Washing ... eh ... well someones got to do it I guess.
  4. What on earth is the smell coming out of the waste disposal -- I think I'll need a clothes peg for this
  5. Hey Mummy, I'm naked and these are my Butt-ocks! hehehehe (kiddo's emphasis not mine. Other kids giggle over arse or butt, but nooo, mine has a thing for butt-ocks)
  6. Crap! (while bending down and getting rid of the old nailpolish) it's like a freaking forest down there, wheres the razor that leg stubble's got to go
  7. To read or not to read, that is the question ... heck its a new book, just a few pages will be okay ... two hours later "Man, they have these on a yearly release cycle, well that sucks, I wanna read the next one now *pout*"
  8. Oooh, look it's time to go to the pool for swimming lessons, get your togs on kiddo!
  9. Here's some meat balls, finish off the bag of potatoes (cut into chunks), add a chopped up onion, and a couple a packets of gravy, a jar of sliced mushrooms, a sprinkle of pepper ... and in the oven it goes
  10. Oops forgot the wine! A splash for the dinner, a glass for me, another splash for dinner, and another glass for me, and another half glass for me ... WTF? Turns bottle upside down and shakes ... shit, it's empty! Bugger!
  11. Mmmm, feeling all mellow inside, I really should go do some writing now ... oooh, so you think you can dance? is on, cool!
  12. Oooh ... Top Chef Miami's on next!
  13. Yawn. Well bugger me, my screens still blank. Oh well, I'll make a start in the morning.

We all do it. I've not written a thing in a month! I had to edit three books and it just sucked the life right out of me. You'll get it done. Really. A break is not a bad thing.

Yup, been there...my big turning point was when I went to a Harry Potter sortying hat thing. Ummm, hello bottom of the barrel of procrastination!

And Top Chef Miami was blah last night...nothing tasty or surprising. Now Footballer's Wives is truly naughty this time around so it was a good diversion :-)

Wow you're an expert at this procrastination thing! Don't forget that your baseboards need periodic cleaning and ceiling fans get very dirty. Not that I've ever cleaned those things while procrastinating of course *whistles*

Yep, sounds a lot like my life only add a second child to that mix.

Leslie - how'd you know I've been eyeing up the fans? They're pretty obvious you see when your letting your bed suck your will to live out as you lie there reading a book ...

Tilly - Harry Potter sorting hat thing..oh dear me!

Nancy - you're right ... unfortunately I don't have any edits to blame, doh!

MamaLee and Mchelle - welcome to the club!

I think we all have days like that. The question is if we feel renewed by them or not. If so, it's not procrastination; it's important stuff!

So what color DID your toes get painted?

LOL Love it! I've done so many of these things. Recently, it's been watching season one and two of House. Now that I'm done those and am waiting anxiously for season three, I'll have to write...

Ah yes -- I have days exactly like that. Weeks in fact!
I'm interested to know what book sucked you in. I just put down Nora Robert's Angels Fall. Thanks to her, I'm behind on my laundry, housework, writing and sleep.

A friend who had been writing for a living for 30+ years once told me about a famous editor and writer who would come up with all sorts of ways to avoid writing...

He once walked his dog so much the vets had to look after it because it was exhausted from all the exercise.

He wall papered the inside of all his cupboards and draw. He wasn't happy with how well he'd done the job so he went on courses to improve his wall papering and then re did all of them and every wall in his house.

Okay, thats just freaky - I went to go look at wallpaper today ... no kidding! I'm going to have to wallpaper one of the bathrooms as the walls just aren't paint suitable, and I don't have the time, patience or arm power to prep them.

You've given me ideas. I usually search the web for esoterica. Or rather, I tell myself I'm researching, but I go off on any little tangent that comes along. :D
