Speaking of giveaways...

I've been looking at various promotional ideas lately -- bookmarks, postcards and the like -- and decided to try something out at Walmart -- Decks of cards.

Yeah, I can see it now, no more playing Hold'em with the guys and having to play with titty picture decks (though it did make for a fun time of 'these are real, these aren't'), I can pull out my book cover decks and play :), wonder how fast they'll be ready to deal then? hmmm...

So I ordered the cards, they duly arrived, and I went in to pick them up. They look better than I'd thought they might. The lady behind the counter just handed me the bag, and when I opened it to check them, she wandered over asking if they were the cards you can order on line -- she was thinking of doing them for the card playing grandparents for Xmas. When she asked if she could have a look, she picked up the PJ cards, and went "oh!", then picked up the next deck, which was Tea for Three with the two yummy men on the cover. The next refrain was "Oh, My!" and, no joking here, she stroked right down the middle of Craig's chest with a purred, "Mmmmm".

I kid you not!!

I then went on to tell her they were my book covers, and I was going to use them as promotional items, by signing them and using them like bookmarks. No sooner was it out of my mouth than she was asking if she could keep one, and "my web address was on the front so she could find where to buy a copy, wasn't it?"

Just goes to show, you never know when a promotional moment is going to jump up and bite you on the butt.

I should go back and find out if she bought a copy and print her off a cd cover and sign it. I mean, I might end up famous, and it could sell on eBay for thousands some day!

The Deck's and the Moo Cards I mentioned a while back:

(The Moo Cards might be small, but they are quite thick, not thin like normal business cards.)

Anyone want a signed T43 playing card to use for a bookmark? Just drop me an email with your address and I'll mail one out to you!

Last Day to sign up for the Christmas Giveaway!

Since Position Vacant is all about Santa, Elves, and romance, I am running a Christmas themed contest for everyone who is on my mailing list. Today (12th Dec) is the last day for entries. Entries close 6pm EST and I will make a drawing this evening.

I will make a random drawing from the list for a pair of Lemax North Pole Ornaments (approx value $35). I might even be convinced to throw in a free copy of Position Vacant for the winner! I will get everything off via priority mail so it arrives in plenty of time for Christmas.

Use the sign up form on the sidebar.

Wanna chat?

You may have caught some excerpts and Q&A from me at Joyfully Reviewed and Love Romances Cafe over the last few days. I will be doing a live chat at realmsoflove.com and romancejunkies.com on the 11th (this coming Monday) at 9pm est…yes, yours truly stuffed up a little and I will be a frantic woman for an hour as I chat at two places…talk about having a spilt personality!

These are dedicated LI author chat nights, so join me and a number of other amazing Loose Id authors - Flesa Black, Isabella Snow, Mechele Armstrong to name a few - to find out about new releases, contests, giveaways, and generally probe our brains for how and why we do what we do.

Squeeeeeee!!

I got an email late last night - my Position Vacant author copies. WaHoo!

It all seems so real once I get those in my hot little hand. It is also a bit of a relief. Persuading Jo went right to the wire with edits, and because I was in New Zealand on a surprise Holiday at the time (and away from an internet connection) and things got a little pie shaped at the last minute.

This time around, though, everything has been like clockwork. Thank goodness, I was getting a bit paranoid :)

Position Vacant Ornament Giveaway

Photos!

Yes I know, long time in coming, but I decided I wanted to hunt out something more than just Santa ornaments. Something that really reflected Position Vacant. And I am glad I did!

These two ornaments represent Position Vacant so well it's spooky!

If you have read the excerpt on the Position Vacant page (you can find it under the booklist tab on my website annedouglas.com) you will know Nick is the master toy designer. So what would be better than Santa's Toy Works?

I also make comment about Dancer and Prancer being rather aptly named...only I could make two of Santa's Reindeer gay. So when I found the ornament that has two reindeer dancing and prancing, I chortled with glee and bundled it in the cart! (They plug in FYI, the workshop lights up and the reindeer...well..dance and prance!

Christmas Ornament Contest

Position Vacant, my new Christmas themed novella is due out next week. Since it's all about Santa and the Elves, I am running a Christmas themed contest for everyone who is on my mailing list. Look to the side and you can see where you can join up, to join in.

On the 12th of Dec I will make a random drawing from the list for a variety of Santa / Elf themed tree ornaments (approx value $25). I might even be convinced to throw in a free copy of Position Vacant for the winner! I will get everything off via priority mail so it arrives in plenty of time for Christmas.

I'll add in a photo of the ornaments once I get the battery charged up for the camera. Murphys Law, when ever I want to use it, it's deader than a doornail :(

It's the weekend!

Yay...I think. It's a big weekend here in Jacksonville.
The Florida Georgia game - potentially the most contested non nfl game of the year - if you are a Floridian or Georgian at least!
Then there is the Air show at NAS Jax...I wonder when the blue angels are due through? I think NAS Jax is their home base? Or is it the blue hornets or something and the blue angels are the NZ squad. Can you tell I am not an airshow geek?
Then, of course, there is halloween. The zoo had their big spooktacular that I might convince the family to wander along to, though more than likely they won't be much interested. We totally suck when it comes to this stuff...I guess it's coming from another country where rabid devotion to a topic is not quite the same.
I have been hunting down different promo op's and dropped into Cata-Network on Thursday with some other LI authors, and a few excerpts on the Joyfully reviewed loop.
Any readers dropping by do you have any suggestions of loops/sites that you haunt that have good promotional value?
