New Reviews:

Two Lips Reviews:

Anne Douglas has written an extremely sensual story full of characters who are flawed enough to be real, while building a beautifully erotic romantic tale. Red Skirt, Cool Fountain is an incredibly erotic and emotional story that highlights how finding that “perfect” someone is more about finding someone who complements perfectly without needing to be perfect.

Ian is a fun-loving man who succeeds while having fun and approaches everything in life with a sunny attitude. Meanwhile, Sanjay is the brooder and thinker who succeeds by effort and drive, leaving very little if any energy left for the enjoyment of life’s successes. Sam, on the other hand, seems to be much more like Ian in her approach to life, but as she is revealed through her interactions with the men, she is shown to be a perceptive woman who is not as impulsive as she seems.

When Ian, Sanjay and Sam come together they will set you on fire as they steam up the pages – especially when Sam becomes the catalyst for the men to acknowledge their feelings for one another. Anne Douglas has outdone herself in writing Red Skirt, Cool Fountain by creating characters who will turn you on as they melt your heart! Red Skirt, Cool Fountain is a must-have for every ménage lover’s library, and Anne Douglas should be added to the list of authors to watch!

RRTErotic:
RED SKIRT, COOL FOUNTAIN may be an interesting title for a story, but it is actually perfect because of what Sam is wearing the first time she is noticed by Ian and Sanjay and how they are first introduced to her. I found Sanjay and Ian's friendship to be very special and also very real. These two men are very close and there is no jealousy between them, especially when Sam, the woman of their dreams, enters the picture.

Anne Douglas has written a very nice yet sexy romance between the two friends and the woman that makes their bond even stronger. Sanjay and Ian are total opposites of each other, but still they are so in tune. I also liked Sanjay's sister Mila who is the voice of reason and understanding when it comes to these two men and their needs. If you like an emotional yet erotic and unconventional love story, I recommend RED SKIRT, COOL FOUNTAIN. You may find yourself looking for your own fountain to cool off in after you finish reading.

JERR:
Par 3 is Ms. Douglas's first entry in her new series. A wonderful and loving novella, I had great pleasure in reading it. Emma was distraught about Aaron and he was concerned about her. They had amazing and erotic sex...make sure that you have a partner or a toy available because you will need it. Silas was an additional primary character who helped Emma and Aaron with their issues. His sexual activities were equally amazing. I do suggest that readers who object to mild BDSM not read Par 3. Emma was my favorite character; she was a wonderful, loving woman who had always known that she and Aaron needed the intimacy that they seemed to have lost. Aaron and Silas were very true to life-men who didn't understand women! The plot was perfectly written as were all Ms. Douglas's books. Why are you here? Go buy this story!

New Release: Par 3

Woohoo - the first of the Husbands and Wives series releases today! My contribution, Par 3 is first up. Here are the details:

Series: Husbands & Wives
Genre: Full-figured Heroine, Ménage
Length: Novella

Three friends, two problems, and a sexually outrageous suggestion that might fix everything.

After twenty years of marriage has Emma Howell's happy-ever-after finally come to an end? As she reaches the mid-point in her life, she wishes she still had the intimacy and closeness she sees in her friends’ marriages.

Her kids are gone. Her husband works later than ever, and he's never home early, which leaves her even lonelier. And then there's the sex they don't have. Do those late nights involve another woman? Is Aaron about to trade her in for a newer, younger model?

Aaron Howell is certain his wonderfully curvy, intelligent and sexy wife is considering having an affair. They haven't had sex for months, and his worries about his marriage failing have grown so big even his golf game's affected.

Their friend Silas Worth is finally finding his feet after losing his wife, Joan, to cancer -- although he's not yet ready for another relationship. Pity no one told his libido that. Might his and Joan's explorations into the swinging scene provide the answer for all three of them?

Publisher's Note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable: Anal play/intercourse, Bondage (mild), Masturbation, Ménage (m/f/m), Spanking, Voyeurism.

Seriously? I worked all of the things on the warning label in? Well, damn!

But what about the use of household appliance for sexual excitement? I don't want no Washing Machine Union on my back because I didn't warn anyone that hot, hawt sex on a wonky washing machine is oh so satisfying!

Here's the excerpt link.

Loose Ends

I'm running a little behind, but y'all might be interested in a new venture of mine: Loose Ends.

Loose Id doesn't run a publisher blog at this point (although you Treva Harte and Margaret Reilly do Loose Change - link on the sidebar), and I thought that really was an opportunity being missed for the authors of Loose Id, so voila - Loose Ends, the official, unofficial blog of Loose Id Authors.
There will be some specific topic days, but amongst those 3 days there will be authors posting on all sorts of wild and wonderful topics - make sure to pop in Wednesdays for Flash Fiction!

New Release: Red Skirt, Cool Fountain

Released today (okay, well technically tomorrow, but hey, the website's already live!)

Title: Red Skirt, Cool Fountain
ISBN: 978-1-59632-619-4

Genre: Full-figured Heroine, Multicultural Polyamorous
Length: Novella

Sanjay Chandra and Ian Morris are flipsides of the same coin -- Sanjay, the dark and brooding voyeur, while Ian is the lighthearted, fun Casanova. But neither one is quite what they appear. One is cold and aloof, a product of his hands-off, must strive for excellence childhood, while the other is cynical and jaded by his family's fast, wastrel ways. As the saying goes: money can't buy you love.

A bright spark of red, viewed from the window of their fifth floor office, draws their attention to a woman who lets loose of the humid lethargy the stifling summer has pressed on them. She sparkles like the cool water in the fountain she wistfully dangles her fingers into.

Sam is everything they are not -- carefree, living life to the fullest, full of laughter and light.

They both want her, so they decide to have her. But Ian and Sanjay risk more than their conventionality by courting Sam. They hazard their very sense of self when they must confront what each man means to the other.

Publisher's Note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable: Anal play/intercourse, homoerotic sexual situations (male/male), masturbation, ménage (m/f/m and m/m/f), voyeurism.

Wow, that's more content warning than I've had before, I think! Make sure to get a copy for some hawt, sexy, first time man loving while a certain young lady looks on!

Red Skirt, Cool Fountain...

Pretty, no?

The release date for Red Skirt is really not all that far off - January 15th. I was pleasantly surprised when I was told the date would come forward rather than be put back to make way for my story that leads off the Husbands and Wives series.

As you can tell by my previous releases, ménage happens to be a favourite of mine, but this one is a little different than Persuading Jo or Tea for Three. Red skirt is quite a voyage of discovery where Ian and Sanjay discover that it's not just Sam(antha) they need, but that they need to confront what each feels for the other, and decide if they will act on what they find out about themselves.

So, unlike Tea for Three, where a committed same sex bi couple introduce a third who is female to their relationship, in Red Skirt, Cool Fountain the polyamorous grouping allows the heretofore strictly hetero men to explore the sexual feelings they have for one another.

Those first man to man touches, and that first time for actual penetrative sex...oooh boy! Hot, hot, hawt!!

Here's the blurb:

Good news to round out the week!

I mentioned earlier that I was working on something super secret, that I had fingers and toes crossed that it was going to work out. Seems all that digit manipulation must have worked!

My critique partners, Amanda Young and Michelle Cary, and I have been given the green light for a small series with the main title of Husbands and Wives, or in Amanda's case Husbands and Wives Husbands, and for me Husbands and Wives & Lovers. The series concept is based around what comes after the happy ending.

I'll let you know more about it soon - the deadline for this is tight, as you should see the first story around Valentines - as we are furiously tangling our fingers into knots from typing furiously to meet our deadline :)

Straight, gay or in between, turning thirty is never easy.

Craig wonders just where his life's heading. His relationship with Jack is satisfying, to say the least. But deep down, he sometimes still craves the soft touches of a woman.

Something's bugging Craig, and Jack knows it. Some sort of pre midlife crisis that he just can't understand. The sex is hot and demanding. Their home life is comfortable without being too familiar. But he just can't help feeling he might be about to lose the love of his life.

Then they meet lovely, loyal and slightly broken Wren Browne. It doesn't take long to realize, they might have just have found the solution to both of their problems.

Love isn't tidy or simple; it doesn't come packaged in neat little boxes. And sometimes you have to set the table with tea for three.

Publisher's Note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable: m/m sex practices, m/m/f menage.

How's this for a yum, yum, bubble gum cover!

Dark haired Wren, the well cut outdoors man Jack, and the nicely built, but a little more fleshy Craig in the foreground...mmm mm m!

Frauke of Croco Designs is the party responsible for this eye candy - she even used a New Zealand pastoral scene! (The book is set in Auckland, NZ)

EDIT: I was asked about release date - last week in May is the current plan, so not that far off!

Romantic Times Review

Here's the review:

The McCabes:Persuading Jo
Anne Douglas
3 Stars

Three best friends come to terms with changes in their relationship. Character development is limited by the short word count, and there are same-sex encounters, menage-a-trois and anal sex elements. This is definitely not a story for the faint at heart.

Summary: Jo has been jealous of the close relationship her friends Matt and Brian enjoy. She knows they’re lovers, yet she can’t help but wish she was part of their loving circle. When the rules change and they begin to pursue her, will she give in to the passion and attraction that has ruled her life for so long, or will she walk away?

Reviewer: Kristi Ahlers
I'm happy to get a review, don't get me wrong, because I thought that I might not, but surely the reviewer could have done more than just make a list of the sex scenes?

Most other reviews have at least another cm of column space, was the story that lacking that there was nothing the reviewer could find to say about it? I really don't mind the criticism - I know you might think that odd, but at this point, I don't feel I have earned enough experienced writer points to feel offended, I need criticism to learn to write better - but surely there was something else the reviewer could point out? Maybe that the heroine was plus-sized? Or maybe how the characters interacted? (though maybe that falls under the limited character development).

I do notice though that this listing of the sexual elements is typical of all that particular reviewer's reviews, so maybe its more that short and sharp is her style rather than she dislikes everything she reviews. I do like the short blurb, though, it's succinct and to the point.

Though I'm happy to see my name in lights, so to speak, I'm a little disappointed; proud as punch to see my first print ad and review (and that it received 3 stars), but a little disappointed, nonetheless.

I'm still cutting them out and framing them though.

Three new reviews

I have been waiting with baited breath for the first Position Vacant review. I have been hoping its short story status wouldn't send it to the bottom of the pile - thank you to Amanda the FAR reviewer who made my day (especially since she gave it 5 angels)!

This is pure romantic fun. Ms. Douglas does a wonderful job making this story come alive with all the novelty, characters, and antics of the North Pole. She does it with such humor and candor that it never strays into a clichéd holiday story. Santa’s helpers lend authenticity to the setting and fun to the story while still staying distinctly in the background. The relationship between Nick, Simon, and Bea takes center stage. These three are realistic characters readers can’t help but like. Even as Simon and Bea are drawn to each other, they don’t want to hurt Nick. Yet their attraction to each other is unmistakable and culminates in passionate, heartfelt love scenes. The erotic connection between Simon and Bea is well written and I love the balance between passion and caring. The ending has this reader hoping another trip to the North Pole is not far away.

FAR also reviewed Persuading Jo (with another 5 angels!)...
The McCabes: Persuading Jo is a tantalizing story that will have your blood pressure soaring as you join these two sexy men in their pursuit of Jo. This tale has been very well written and contains detailed sexual encounters, although not for everyone, I found these scenes to be very alluring and highly erotic. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the love and devotion between these characters and felt that Jo was a lucky woman. Anne Douglas has created a fantastic story with The McCabes: Persuading Jo and earned herself a new fan in the process. 5 Angels!!

Joyfully Reviewed just posted their review of Persuading Jo...
Anne always does a great job of portraying the emotional aspects of a story, but I was still surprised by the intensity of the emotions in this story on all sides. The sex was hot and extremely well-written, but above all, Persuading Jo is a reminder that love takes many forms and not always what you expect. I’m really hoping for another from Anne in this vein

Phew!
